Beauty secret: Masks, scrubs & serums

In the midst of our busy lifestyles, take time to treat yourself to these at-home spa products that will leave you feeling pampered, with softer skin and silkier hair

DOVE Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Treatment Mask, RRP $7.99

This product costs so little and yet does so much. I seriously use this every week because it leaves my hair feeling ever so soft and fresh!

Before washing your hair, apply the treatment mask to your hair beginning with the ends and focusing on your lengths (avoid the scalp). Once you’ve covered the ends (up to about your ears), tie/clip up your hair and leave for 15-20 mins.

Then, once in the shower, shampoo and condition as normal – the mask will come off in the shampooing step. Then dry and style as normal, and enjoy your beautifully conditioned hair.

Keep an eye out because some pharmacies discount them to half price – just $3.99!

Botani Exfoliating 2 in 1 Scrub & Mask, RRP $39.95

This is a fantastic vegan face scrub that uses plastic-free microbeads – so great for the environment in more ways than one. Using this blend of oat bran, Australian bentonite clay, rice flour, quandong and olive squalane, you will actually feel the dead skin cells being sloughed off, which is very satisfying.

Just remember to avoid the delicate under-eye area, and don’t overscrub. Botani says this product is suitable for daily use for all skin types, including blemished and acne prone skin. Follow with Botani’s Radiant Rose Mask or your usual daily cleanser.

Botani Radiant Rose Mask, RRP $39.95

While a little on the expy side, this face mask will provide you with an amazing spa experience at home. And it’s a fraction of the cost of an actual spa facial, considering this container will probably last for more than five at-home treatments!

After cleansing skin or using the above Botani exfoliating mask, gently apply this mask to your face and leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse off with cool water. You will now have amazingly soft skin that smells like rose!

Botani Olive Skin Serum, RRP $31.95

Okay, so skin serum is a bit of a luxury, especially considering the price tag on this one.

BUT, if you feel like splashing out, this serum is particularly good for your skin. Apparently it’s Botani’s number 1 selling product and is superior to rosehip oil.

The serum contains 100% phyto-active olive squalene, an ingredient which apparently resembles the built-in moisturiser each of us has in our skin.

I put it on my face before going to bed at night, because it can look a bit oily. But I wake up with amazingly soft (and not oily!) skin.

You can also mix it in with a bit of your normal daily moisturiser to sneak some serum into your usual skincare routine.

Trilogy Exfoliating Body Balm, RPP $35.95

This award winning body scrub is fantastic! While you might need to contort into uncomfortable positions trying to use this product all over your body in the shower, it’s definitely worth the feeling of freshly exfoliated skin. It doesn’t have a strong scent, and as a blend of rosehip oil, sweet almond oil and beeswax it leaves a very slight waxy/buttery residue on your body after use.

All in all, a product I would recommend.

Bella Lucce Bali Kope Coffee Scrub, RRP $49.90

Slightly more expensive for a body exfoliant, I have splashed out for this scrub more than once to get my dry winter skin ready for summer.

It’s apparently inspired by a Balinese spa treatment and will certainly leave you feeling pampered and clean.

This particular scent is just gorgeous for anyone who is a coffee fan. However Bella Lucce offers a range of scents including date/honey, chocolate, passionfruit/guava, green tea/crushed rice, wildberry and more!
